« on: June 23, 2014, 03:13:51 PM »
The Philadelphia Flyers have traded forward Scott Hartnell to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward R.J. Umberger and a 2015 fourth-round pick, the Flyers announced on Monday.

Hartnell scored 20 goals and added 32 assists for 52 points last season with a plus-11 rating in 78 games.

The 32 year old, who is entering the second year of a six-year, $28.5 million deal, joins his third NHL franchise after being selected by the Nashville Predators sixth overall in the 2000 draft and traded to the Flyers in 2007.

Hartnell has scored 250 goals, 287 assists and 537 points in 953 NHL games.

Umberger tallied 18 goals and added 16 assists with a minus-3 rating in 74 games with the Blue Jackets in 2013-2014.

Also 32, the Pittsburgh native has three years left on his contract with an average annual value of $4.6 million.

Umberger has 169 goals and 197 assists for 366 points in 673 career games with the Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers.

The American was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round (16th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

The Blue Jackets are making solid moves to get better.
